RANGERS BRING COACH EDUCATION TO NETHERDALE

Tuesday, August 30, 2016

The community partnership that Gala Fairydean Rovers have established with Glasgow Rangers has again paid dividends for the Netherdale club.

Along with the Development Loan signing of Scottish International Under 18 goalkeeper Kieran Wright, coaches and youngsters at the Gala club gained invaluable knowledge and experience when Rangers Academy coaches Gordon Craig and Steven Mundell recently ran the second of a series of coaching workshop at the 3G Arena.

Gordon Craig is the Director of Coerver Coaching in Scotland and works with Rangers Children’s Academy where he delivers sessions on a weekly basis as well as contributing to coach education and curriculum design at the Ibrox club’s Academy.

His session with youngsters at Netherdale focused on the development of individual skill and small group play, with the ultimate aim to create confident and creative players that value winning but not more than character and performance.

Steven Mundell is a Glasgow University Graduate with a Sports Science background and he led the Gala Firydean Rovers Under 13 side in a series of attacking drills.

Club Chairman Kevin Temple told us;

“We are delighted that our partnership with Rangers is continuing to help develop our coaches and youngsters here at Netherdale. Whilst we clearly are poles apart in terms of size, we share values with Rangers in terms of the development of young players.

Rangers believe that their future as a competitive force in global football depends on their ability to develop top quality talent and likewise we know if Gala Fairydean Rovers are to progress then we need to produce our own young players.

We also want to encourage good habits attributes and behaviours both on and off the field and our tie-in with the Ibrox club and their professional coaching staff like Gordon and Steven helps us in that respect.”
