After last Saturday's dramatic win over Cumbernauld Colts, Gala Fairydean Rovers will be aiming to build on the result when they travel to play Dalbeattie Star on Saturday.
A supporters bus will be running to the game departing from the clubrooms at 10am. Price of the journey is just £6.00!
Kick off at Islecroft Park is 2pm due to maintenance work on the Dalbeattie floodlights.
For stay-at-home supporters, there is an intriguing Border Amateur C Division clash between Gala Fairydean Rovers Amateurs and Langlee Amateurs on Saturday.
Kick off at the 3G Arena is 2pm.
Following the merger of the junior and youths sections, the new name of the club catering for youngsters aged between five and 17 will be the Gala Fairydean Rovers Football Academy. The merger will bring many benefits including the new club going for charitable status. Garry Fraser was rewarded with leading the first team to victory over Cumbernauld on Saturday in the absence of ill manager Steven Noble by being elected chairman of the new club.
The under 13s put up a strong challenge but eventually went down 5-1 to Glenbrae Colts from Renfrew in the Scottish Cup at the 3G Arena on Sunday. Harry Fowler for the goal for GFRFA.
This Sunday the under 13s play Edinburgh City in the Sportsassist South East Region Cup. Kick off at the 3G Arena is 11am.
The under 14s went out of the Scottish Cup in Glasgow going down 3-2 to Petershill Athletic onSunday. After going one down in the opening minute Gala equalised through Finlay Wheelans before taking the lead after half time with Gregor Collins finishing well. The game turned when Gala missed a penalty half way through the second half and having failed to take other chances, it allowed Petershill to gain the momentum and score 2 late goals. It was harsh on Gala who had played well but ultimately was a lesson in taking your chances. No fixture this weekend
The under 15s raced into the lead after just 35 seconds in the Scottish Cup against Stonehouse from Lanarkshire on Sunday. But the visitors forced their way back into the game and eventually ran out 6-2 winners. Dylan Curran and Gioacchino De Martino were the GFRFA scorers.
No game this weekend.
The under 16s were leading Earlston Ryhmers 3-0 in the Colin Greenhill Memorial Cup on the Netherdale back pitches on Sunday. But the visitors fought back and won the tie 4-3 in extra time. Declan Bell, Blair Turner and Chris Miller were the GFRFA scorers. The under 16s are away to North Berwick Colts in the Jackie Faichney Memorial Cup.
Traditionally the club provides hospitality for Scottish matches involving youth teams. Thanks go to parent helper Eileen Miller for organising this for the under 13s and under 15s games. Both Glenbrae under 13s and Stonehouse under 15s brought a large number of spectators who made full use of the club's facilities on Sunday and respected them at all times. Good luck to both teams in the next round.
There was one winner in the Gala Fairydean Rovers FC Lotto draw on Sunday with John Robertson collecting a cheque for £1,400.
The winning numbers were 1, 7 and 12.
There was no winner in the weekly Gala Fairydean Rovers FC Bonus Ball with number 53. That means there is a £50 rollover prize this weekend.
HALF TIME DRAW
The winner of the 50/50 Half Time draw at Saturday's match between Gala Fairydean Rovers and Cumbernauld Colts was Matthew Roebuck from Galashiels who won £35.50. The winning ticket was drawn by Callum and Layla Mann.
Gala Fairydean Rovers Amateurs have a chance of silverware in their first season when they meet Berwick Colts in the final of the Collie Cup.
The final will take place at Kelso's Woodside Park on Saturday, November 11, kick off 1.30pm.
