HOME TIE FOR GFR IN SCOTTISH CUP 1ST ROUND DRAW

GFR manager Steven Noble believes he has a fortnight to rebuild his team's confidence ahead of welcoming Fraserburgh to Netherdale for the Scottish Cup.

The Gala gaffer is still recovering from the aftermath of his side's 7-1 destruction by neighbours Selkirk on Saturday.

But he believes wins over Preston Athletic on Saturday and then victory over Heston Rovers in the South Cup the following week will set his side up for their Scottish Cup first round clash.

Noble said: "I know Fraserburgh are a good team - they have enjoyed good runs in the Scottish Cup in the past and will come down to Gala looking for a win.

"Right now we need to concentrate on our own game and start playing the kind of football we are capable of.

"Everyone at the club needs a lift after the Selkirk match and wins between now and the Scottish Cup will do that."

Fraserburgh have won four and drawn two of their opening six Highland League games this season.

But Mark Cowie's team haven't faired so well in the domestic cup competitions - already losing three ties.
