GFR WEEKLY UPDATE

GFR Hit the Road

After a sequence of 4 home games in succession, the Fairydean Rovers find themselves on the road for their next 3 matches. Tuesday the 4th of October sees the Braw Lads head for Gretna in the League with a 7.45pm kick-off whilst on Saturday they visit Albert Park for their first ever Lowland League game against Hawick Royal Albert. The following Saturday, (October 15th) Steven Noble’s side then travel to East Kilbride to face the league leaders in the second round of the South Cup before returning to Netherdale for their William Hill Scottish Cup second round tie against Elgin City on the 22nd. There will be no supporter’s bus running to Hawick but spaces are available for the trip to K-Park East Kilbride at the cost of only £6 return. More details to follow.

2004 SQUAD

GFR produced their best performance of the season to beat Tranent 5-2 in their league fixture at a sunny 3G Arena. Cameron Riddell opened the scoring after 15 minutes before Damien Konowalski made it 2-0 ten minutes later after a fine through ball from Tor McGillivray. Tranent pulled one back on half time but McGillivray made it 3-1 from the spot straight after half time and added his second shortly afterwards after good work from Konowalski. Those 2 were proving a real handful for Tranent with their link up play and were both involved in setting up Jack Niven who scored with a thunderous finish from 20 yards. Tranent were always dangerous on the break and added their second just on the final whistle but Gala's defence were superbly marshalled by Dougray Seggie with Paddy Beatt always alert behind them also. A fantastic performance again with the whole squad playing well.

2003 SQUAD

The under 14s enjoyed a superb 6-1 away victory at Cramond in the Willie Bauld Cup last Sunday. The squad is back in cup action next weekend when they face Leith Athletic Colts in the David Innes Cup at Netherdale.

2002 SQUADS

The Under 15’s travelled to Midlothian to face Bonnyrigg Rose Reds in the Sports Assist South East Region Cup and emerged with a stunning 9-1 victory to progress to the next round. Meanwhile the Under 15’s Colts squad lost narrowly 4-3 to Edinburgh South CFC Colts in the John McConnell Memorial Cup

2001 SQUAD

The under 16s defeated Tranent Colts 1-0 at the 3G Arena on Sunday. The squad is back in action at the 3G next Sunday when they face Currie Star Colts in the Jackie Faichney Memorial Cup.
