GFR WEEKLY UPDATE

NO GAME

Gala Fairydean Rovers have no game this weekend but there is still plenty to play for before the end of the season. East Kilbride clinched the Lowland League championship at Netherdale on Saturday with an emphatic victory in front of a large crowd. Congratulations to the Lanarkshire outfit on their title success. They now go on to the play-offs to meet the winners of the Highland League. The winners of that game will then play the team which finishes bottom of League Two which is likely to be either Cowdenbeath or Clyde.

Gala, meanwhile, have Gretna at the 3G Arena on Saturday, April 15, followed by a trip to face Cumbernauld a week after that.

Edinburgh University are due to visit Netherdale on Saturday, April 29, for the opening round of the Lowland League Cup.

2004 SQUAD

The under 13s missed a barrowload of chances against Portobello Thistle at the 3G Arena on Sunday. They paid the penalty by going down 5-1 with Gregor Collins scoring for the home side. But it was a good performance with Dougray Seggie, Tor McGillivray and Damien Konowalski standing out for Gala.

2003 SQUAD

No game for the under 14s this weekend but they have a big friendly match against a Glasgow team to look forward to next month. Details to be confirmed soon.

2002 SQUAD

The under 15s lost 5-2 away to Dunbar United Colts on Sunday. Faustas Joudekis and Danny Hollywood got on the scoresheet for Gala.

This Sunday the team travels to play Spartans FC Colts. Transport times to be confirmed at training.

2001 SQUAD

The under 16s are away to Dalkeith Thistle Colts on Sunday. Transport times to be confirmed at training.

2000 SQUAD

The under 17s fought out a 2-2 draw at the 3G Arena on Saturday with Musselburgh Young Stars - a team which had taken double figures

off them recently. Despite the squad being down to the bare bones, the team continue to show a great attitude and thoroughly deserved their share of the spoils. The visitors took the lead only for Fraser Jackson to level and then Tyler Grainger put Gala in front with an excellent solo effort. Musselburgh levelled and a draw was a fair result in the end but another great performance by the under 17s.

No game this weekend.
