GFR WEEKLY UPDATE


DERBY DAY

Gala Fairydean Rovers will travel the short distance to Selkirk for a Lowland League fixture on Saturday. Both teams are in good form so it has all the makings of an intriguing local derby clash.

Kick off at Yarrow Park is 3pm.

HOME GAME

GFR Amateurs face Melrose in a Border Amateur C Division match on Saturday.

Kick off on the Netherdale back pitches is 2p.m.

2005 SQUAD

The under 13s were involved in a thrilling Scottish Cup tie at Currie on Sunday eventually winning 4-3 after extra time. It was a slow start by GFR and they trailed 2-0 at the interval. But after the break they came storming back and Russell Kerr rifled a shot into the top corner..

Lewis McEwan displayed some great footwork to fire a shot into the net from outside the box to take the tie into extra time. Currie missed a penalty and McEwan bagged a second before the home side levelled the game with a free kick. But it was GFR who had the last word with Harry Fowler scoring the winner from the penalty spot.

The under 14s are at home to Penicuik Athletic in the South East Region Cup this Sunday. Kick off time at the 3G Arena is 11am.

2004 SQUAD

The under 14s progressed into the next round of the Scottish Cup with a 4-1 win over Dalkeith Thistle in the Scottish Cup at the 3G Arena on Sunday. Gregor Collins opened the scoring after 15 minutes with a tap-in before two clinical finishes from Finn Douglas in the second half

gave GFR some breathing space. Finlay Wheelans scored a deserved goal for all his efforts with Dalkeith netting a consolation goal in injury time.

The under 13s are away to Biggar United Juniors in the South East Region Cup on Saturday. Transport times to be confirmed

at training.

2003 SQUAD

The under 15s registered a comprehensive 8-0 win away to Craigshill Thistle Reds in the Scottish Cup on Sunday.

This Sunday the team is away to Longniddry Villa Blues. Transport times to be confirmed at training.

2002 SQUAD

There is no fixture for the under 16s this weekend.

HALF TIME DRAW

The winner of the Gala Fairydean Rovers 50-50 Half Time draw for the midweek match against Lothian Thistle was Billy Donnelly from Stow who won £47.50.

The winner at Saturday's East Kilbride game was Martha from East Kilbride who won £44.

LOTTO

The winning numbers in the Gala Fairydean Rovers Lotto draw at the weekend were 2, 4 and 18. Alan Howlieson scooped the £1200 jackpot.

BONUS BALL

There were no winners in the weekly Gala Fairydean Rovers Bonus Ball competition as number 58 was drawn. That means there is a £50 rollover prize this weekend.
