GFR WEEKLY UPDATE

NO GAME

Gala Fairydean Rovers have no fixture this weekend. But there are some huge matches coming up starting with the William Hill Scottish Cup first round tie against Highland League outfit Keith.

The match will take place at the 3G Arena on Saturday, September 23, kick off 3pm.

  • The following Saturday (30/09) GFR again have home advantage when Civil Service Strollers visit Netherdale for a Lowland League fixture

  • On Wednesday, October 4 the team travels to play BSC Glasgow at Airdrie's Excelsior Stadium. Kick off for that match is 7.45 pm.

HOME MATCH

With no first team action, Saturday presents an excellent opportunity to have a look at the reserve team who continue to make good progress in the Border Amateur C Division. Predominantly comprising last season's under 17s team, the youngsters have stood up well so far to the rigours of adult football.

Tweeddale Rovers Colts are the visitors to the 3G Arena on Saturday for a Collie Cup quarter final tie.

Kick off is 2pm - Free entry.

JUNIORS AGM

The AGM of the Gala Fairydean Rovers Juniors section takes place on Monday October 2 at 7pm in the clubrooms.

All coaches, admin volunteers and parent/guardians are urged to attend this very important meeting.

2005 SQUAD

The under 13s continued on their winning ways with a 4-1 victory over Musselburgh Windsor Blues at the 3G Arena on Sunday.

Goals from Harry Fowler, James McLeod and Russell Kerr (2) proved to be the difference although this was a fine all-round team performance.

Longniddry Villa are the visitors to the 3G Arena this Sunday. Kick off 11a.m.

2004 SQUAD

The under 14s kept up their 100 per cent start to the season with a resounding 7-2 victory at Edinburgh City in the Willie Bauld Cup.

Finn Douglas maintained his incredible start to the season with another hat-trick ably assisted by his strike partner Finlay Wheelans who added a brace of his own. Damien Konowalski and Gregor Collins were the other goalscorers but credit again to the whole squad for an excellent display which was marred only by the news that Dylan Ellins sustained an arm fracture after falling awkwardly during the 2nd half. Everyone wishes him a speedy recovery. Next up is an away trip to Longniddry Villa in the league.

2003 SQUAD

The under 15s recorded an impressive 7-2 victory away to Edinburgh City on Sunday. Dylan Curran netted four times and there were also goals from Ben Sloan, Adam Moffat and Adrian Kulik.

This Sunday the team is back on home territory to play Beechwood. Kick off at the 3G Arena is 12.30 pm.

2002 SQUAD

There was little to choose between the teams as the under 16s tackled Spartans FC Reds at the 3G Arena on Sunday afternoon. The game could have gone either way after Declan Bell brought Gala back onto level terms. But the visitors scored twice late on to win 3-1.

Spartans Colts are the visitors to the 3G Arena on Sunday. Kick off 2pm.
