GFR WEEKLY UPDATE

WILLIAM HILL SCOTTISH CUP DAY

EXCITEMENT is mounting at Netherdale as Scottish Cup day fast approaches. Highland League outfit Keith are the visitors to the 3G Arena on Saturday for the opening round of the William Hill Scottish Cup.

Keith were watched on Saturday by GFR scouts and although they went down 2-0 to Formartine United they will prove tough opposition. But the Scottish Cup is a lucrative source of income for Gala Fairydean Rovers so the target is a place in the second round.

Premier Club cards do not apply for this match. The admission charges are £7 for adults and £3 concessions.

Kick off at the 3G Arena is 3 pm.

GFR AMATEURS AWAY GAME

GFR Amateurs are in action on the Netherdale back pitches on Saturday. They face local rivals Gala Thistle in a league

match.

Kick off is 2pm.

2005 SQUAD

The under 13s were involved in a tense clash with Longniddry Villa with the game finely in the balance before GFR ran out 4-1 winners. The Gala scorers were Harry Fowler, Russell Kerr, Kai Macrae and Lewis McEwen.

This Sunday the team travels to play Musselburgh Young Stars in the Ken Ritchie Cup. Transport times to be given at training.

2004 SQUAD

The under 14s came away from Longniddy Villa with a point despite having an off day and not playing well. Though leading 5-1 at half time Gala had Finn Douglas (2), Finlay Wheelans (2) and Tor McGillivray to thank for good counter attacking goals despite being under pressure for the majority of the half. That pressure continued in the second half as Longniddry fed off Gala's nervous play and gradually clawed their way back before scoring a deserved equaliser with 2 minutes to play.

Gala will be hoping for an improved performance as they host Hutchison Vale in the Willie Bauld Cup on Sunday. Kick off at the 3G Arena is at 11am.

2003 SQUAD

The under 15s recorded a 7-0 win over Beechwood at the 3G Arena on Sunday. The scorers were Dylan Curran(4), Ben Sloan, Adam Moffat and Adrian Kulik.

Lochend YFC are the visitors to Netherdale this weekend for a league match. Kick off at the 3G Arena on Sunday is 12.30pm.

2002 SQUAD

Another close match at the 3G Arena on Sunday but this time it was Spartans Colts who emerged 4-2 winners against the under 16s. Declan Bell and Danny Hollywood were on the scoresheet for the home team.

This Sunday Edinburgh City Reds are the visitors to the 3G Arena. Kick off 2pm.

LOTTO

THERE were no winners in the weekly Gala Fairydean Rovers Lotto draw as no tickets matched the numbers 2, 13 and 17.

That means the estimated jackpot this Sunday will be £400.

BONUS BALL

KENNY Riddell was the winner of the eagerly-awaited triple rollover in the Gala Fairydean Rovers Bonus Ball competition. Having number 38 earned him £100.

JUNIORS AGM

The AGM of the Gala Fairydean Rovers Juniors section takes place on Monday October 2 at 7pm in the clubrooms.

All coaches, admin volunteers and parent/guardians are urged to attend this very important meeting.

LITTER

The 3G Arena is a wonderful facility for both locals and visitors. Unfortunately a habit has developed of discarding plastic bottles throughout the stadium without using the bins and the place can look very unsightly. This is not just youngsters as coffee cups are also just dropped on the ground. Please respect the facility and use the bins provided.
