GFR WEEKLY UPDATE

HOME TIE

GALA Fairydean Rovers take a break from Lowland League action this weekend with a South Challenge Cup second round tie at home to East Stirlingshire. Like the home side, the Shire have had a topsy-turvy season so far - the highlight being a 5-0 win over reigning champions East Kilbride.

Gala were given a bye in the first round following the withdrawal of Wigtown and a victory would mean their furthest ever progress in the tournament.

Kick off at the 3G Arena on Saturday is 3pm.

2005 SQUAD

A thrilling match played in front of one of the biggest crowds of the season so far this season at Netherdale saw the under 13s go down 2-0 to Hutchison Vale Colts in a top of the table fixture. There was little to choose between the teams until the visitors scored deep into the second half. Gala were awarded a penalty minutes later but the keeper pulled off a fine save. As the home side pressed for a leveller they were caught on the break as Colts added a second.

The under 13s are away to Beechwood this Sunday in a league match.
