GFR WEEKLY UPDATE


NO GAME

GALA Fairydean Rovers have no fixture this weekend. After the hard-earned 3-1 victory over Stirling University on Saturday and a bounce game against Coldstream on Tuesday evening, the playing squad will have a break before preparing for two massive matches coming up.

First up on Saturday, November 17, at the Netherdale 3G Arena is Edu Sports Academy who have put together a fine run of results In the Lowland League.

The following Saturday (November 24) Gala Fairydean Rovers are away to East Kilbride in the third round of the William Hill Scottish Cup.

Supporters wishing to travel should add their name to the sheet on the club noticeboard or contact any committee member.

AWAY DAY

Gala Fairydean Rovers Amateurs are away to Tweedmouth Harrow in a Border Amateur C Division fixture this Saturday. Last Saturday's game against Kelso at the Netherdale 3G Arena was abandoned with eight minutes remaining due to a serious injury suffered by Gala player Emil Makowski and concern about his condition awaiting an ambulance. Everyone at Gala Fairydean Rovers FC wishes him a speedy recovery from a broken collar bone.

2006 SQUAD

The Under 13s progressed in the Inspiresport Scottish Cup with a 6-2 victory over Parkmoor from Renfrewshire at the Netherdale 3G Arena on Sunday. The scorers for GFR were Harris Fairgrieve(3), Chris Wilson(2) and Callum Tait. The team have been drawn away Clarkston from Glasgow in the next round. No game this weekend.

2005 SQUAD

The under 14s recorded a 5-2 victory away to Leith Athletic on Sunday. This Sunday the team is away to Salvesen CFC in the Kenny McLean Cup.

2004 SQUAD

The Under 15s drew 2-2 with Oxgangs on Sunday in a entertaining encounter at the 3G Arena. Despite not being at their best Gala were probably the better team and goals from Kerr Johnston and Finlay Wheelans ensured they didn't leave empty handed.

Next up is an away tie on Sunday against Edinburgh City Colts in the John McConnell Memorial Cup.

2003 SQUAD

The under 16s defeated Leith Athletic Colts 3-2 at the Netherdale 3G Arena on Sunday. Scorers for the home side were Sam Derrick, Kyle McLennan and Adrian Kulik. Well done also to keeper Euan Lillico for his penalty save. This Sunday the team is away to Portobello CFC in the Sportsassist South East Region Cup.

HALF TIME DRAW

The winner of the 50/50 Half Time draw at Saturday's Lowland League match against Stirling University with ticket number 10,902 was Lesley Ayres from Galashiels who won £25. The draw was made by match-day mascots Liam and Brody Curran.

LOTTO DRAW

There were no winning tickets in the Gala Fairydean Rovers Lotto draw. For the record the numbers were 3, 5 and 20. The estimated jackpot this weekend is £800.

BONUS BALL

IT'S a triple rollover offering a £75 prize this weekend in the Gala Fairydean Rovers Bonus Ball competition as no-one had number 53.

RACE NIGHT

Galas Fairydean Rovers is staging a race night in the clubrooms on Saturday, November 17. Tickets priced £5 will be available from the clubrooms this weekend.
