GFR WEEKLY UPDATE

AWAY DAY

After a weekend break, Gala Fairydean Rovers are on their travels again this Saturday heading to Annan to play EDU Sports Academy.

Edu were worthy winners at Netherdale earlier in the season but have struggled in recent weeks. It will be an intriguing Lowland League fixture at Annan's Galabank Stadium, kick off 3pm. A supporters bus will be running to the match departing from the clubrooms at 12 noon.

Cost of the return journey is £6.

HOME GAME

For stay-at-home supporters, Gala Fairydean Rovers Amateurs entertain Border Amateur A Division table-toppers Hawick Waverley in a cup tie. Kick off at the Netherdale 3G Arena on Saturday is 2pm.

2006 SQUAD

The under 13s recorded an excellent 3-2 win away to Tynecastle FC Whites on Sunday. Harris Fairgrieve(2) and Reegan Stisi were the GFR scorers. This Sunday the team is at home to Salvesen in the Ken Ritchie Cup. Kick off at the Netherdale 3G Arena is 11.15am.

2005 SQUAD

A SEVEN-GOAL thriller at the Netherdale 3G Arena saw the under 14s narrowly lose out 4-3 to Hutchison Vale Colts. The Gala scorers were Harry Fowler, Finlay McKechnie and Kai MacRae. This Sunday the team hosts Earlston Rhymers in the Kenny McLean Cup. Kick off at the Netherdale 3G Arena is 12.45pm.

2004 SQUAD

The under 15s returned to action after the Christmas break and picked up where they let off by collecting another three points against Edinburgh United at the Netherdale 3G Arena. Cruising at 2-0 thanks to goals from Ben Hawkins and Tor McGillivray, two quick-fire goals brought Edinburgh level before an injury time penalty was expertly tucked away by Finlay Wheelans to hand Gala the victory.

Next up is an away trip to Edinburgh City in a league encounter.

2003 SQUAD

The under 16s were at home to league leaders Longniddry Vila on Sunday and created a couple of early chances. The visitors are one of Scotland's top teams and once they broke the deadlock the goals started to flow. The GFR team kept working hard throughout the game but were up against strong opposition and eventually went down 9-0. This Sunday the under 16s are at home again - this time to Broxburn Diamonds in the League Cup. Kick off at the Netherdale 3G Arena is 2.15pm.

BONUS BALL

The winner of the weekly Gala Fairydean Rovers Bonus Ball competition with number six was Alan Allison who won £25.
