4 IN A ROW FOR GFR & ADDISON NETS A HAT-TRICK

EDINBURGH UNIVERSITY 1

SCOTTISH LOWLAND LEAGUE

HAT-TRICK hero Phil Addison proved to be the difference as Gala Fairydean Rovers made it four league wins on the bounce under the Netherdale lights on Tuesday night. But Edinburgh University got off to a flying start when Louis Maurice finished off a slick move down the left to put the visitors in front after just six minutes.

Gala's response was instant with Addison rounding the keeper in the 12th minute and smashing the ball into the roof of the net from a tight angle. The home side piled on the pressure with Gareth Rodger heading over from close range on two occasions. Yet the students looked lively on the break and had a couple of chances to regain their lead.

It was anyone's game at the interval but Gala stepped up a gear and went in front in the 56th minute when Archie Roue netted his first goal for the club by bursting through on the right and chipping the ball over the advancing keeper in the 56th minute. But it was Addison who went home clutching the match ball with a couple of slick finishes in the 61st and 70th minutes to wrap up the victory for Gala.

The result means Gala are now level on points with fifth-placed Kelty Hearts and now have a massive match against BSC Glasgow - who are currently in second spot - at the Netherdale 3G Arena on Saturday.
