GFR KEEP THEIR WINNING RUN GOING AT COLTS

CUMBERNAULD COLTS 1

GFR 2

SCOTTISH LOWLAND LEAGUE

GALA chalked up their third Lowland League win in a row with a deserved victory at Broadwood on Saturday. The visitors were cruising 2-0 in injury time before Coits, who had rarely threatened, pulled a goal back through sub Lee Whitmore.

Incredibly the hosts had a couple of chances after that to level which would have been an injustice taking the whole game into account.

Defender Ben Herdman scored his first competitive goal for Gala after 55 appearances in the 17th minute when he bundled home Phil Addison's corner. Scott-Taylor McKenzie struck the bar and had another 20 yard shot just sail wide as Gala dominated on the excellent 4G surface.

GFR looked to have wrapped up the points 10 minutes from time when McKenzie played a delightful ball down the left to sub Sean Ward who drilled in a low cross which was narrowly missed by the onrushing Addison. However Ross Aitchison popped up at the back post to slam the ball into the roof of the net.

Cumbernauld rallied late on and pulled one back but Gala held on for all three points and only their second ever victory at Broadwood.

BSC Glasgow are the visitors to the Netherdale 3G Arena this Saturday. Kick off 3pm.
